Our associates are devoted to ensuring that pets’ lives are happy and healthy. So naturally, we’re devoted to making sure that PetSmart is a happy and healthy place to work, too.

Our vision of belonging aims to create an environment in which every associate feels that they truly belong. We place a high value on all the unique backgrounds, experiences and perspectives of our associates, customers and communities in which we live and work. This vision is grounded in 3 three key aspects.
Talent
We aim to select, develop and retain the best talent from all backgrounds in order to drive innovation. With this goal in mind, last year PetSmart invested $450,000 in continuous learning and professional development, focused on unconscious bias and diversity & inclusion.
Culture
We value an inclusive and caring workplace in which associates are engaged, feel safe and can be their authentic selves. We have six Associate Resource Groups (ARGs) that were created to embrace differences and individuality.
Community
Last year, PetSmart dedicated 22,000 hours of paid volunteer time to Phoenix office associates, encouraging us to engage and give back to our communities. We also focus on inspiring our business partners to embrace and share our vision.
Associate Resource Groups
ARGs are a group of associates who share a common purpose, interest or background to develop opportunities for its members.
AVID
We celebrate and acknowledge the experiences and perspectives of associates with different types of disabilities, be they temporary or permanent, physical or mental, visible or invisible.
MOSAIC
We encourage associates from diverse backgrounds to embrace and celebrate their differences by building cultural awareness and fostering open discussions.
PRIDE AT WORK (PAW)
We increase awareness and promote inclusion of the LGBTQ+ culture within PetSmart and the greater community at large.
SERVE
We honor the service of PetSmart Veteran families by providing a space where they and their supporters can reach their fullest potential.
StartSmart
We provide early-career PetSmart associates with the resources and opportunities to grow and advance their careers.
W.I.S.E
We gather associates with an interest in advancing women’s career growth. When women excel, PetSmart excels!
What does belonging at PetSmart look like?
PetSmart Charities is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has granted more money than any other animal welfare group in North America directly toward helping pets in need. PetSmart and PetSmart Charities are humbled and proud of this work—which includes saving the lives of homeless pets, raising awareness of companion animal welfare and adoption and spay/neuter initiatives.
